Lets chat about a super important topic... CONFIDENCE! One of my favorite sayings is “act confident and no one will question you.” Friends, I want to give y’all some tips that have helped me with my confident, because there’s times when it’s not always easy! Building my confidence has taken years. There's been high and lows and times I was more confident than others. It's sort of like a muscle, to keep it tone you have to work it every single day.
Here’s 3 big things that have helped me over the years!!!
✔️ Think positive thoughts, feed yourself what you want to believe.
✔️ Be prepared; this relates to physical appearance, mental preparation, and so on. You can prepare a little or a lot for any life situation; a speech, a party, a gathering a meeting, and event, a dinner, a sporting event. You name it, or live it, you can prepare for it. Here's some examples broken down.
✔️ Work on yourself; if you look good, you feel good.
ACNE!!!! Ughhh that dreaded four letter word no one likes! I used to be ashamed of my skin when I was having a "flare up", and now it's one of the big things I want to talk about with you guys! Almost all of the products down below are linked for you to purchase if you want to try them. I made sure too spend time finding each product and writing a bit of info about why I like it and what it does. =)
When my acne would flare up, I didn't want to leave the house, didn't want to see anyone or do anything. I just wanted it to go away so I could be my confident self. Is my skin terrible? NO. Is my skin perfect? No. BUT I have learned what does and does NOT work form we personally. I did everything; acne cream, spot treatment, birth control, medication, face masks, facials. I've tried it ALL. Everything works differently for different people, DUH but talking with other girls I hear lots of common themes. There are 2 big ones; DIET & HORMONES. I have found a solution that is working for me and I want to share it with all of you! Give it a try and maybe it will help your acne or even your simple blemishes.
MY CURRENT ACNE ROUTINE:
- Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel
- Simple Makeup Removal Wipes
- I have tried every food diet there is to help with my acne; paleo, gluten free, no sugar, no alcohol, and HONESTLY I DO see a huge difference. For some people foods don't harm their skin, but for me and many others I know, it does. I try to be pretty good 70-80 percent of the time, yes I cheat, but I try not to. One of the reasons I get "flare ups" is because my body can't fight the bad bacteria inside my gut or stomach. Bad bacteria can be caused by gluten, dairy, and alcohol. Think about it... gluten is bread and pasta and cookies and sugary items, these things can't be broken down as easily in our bodies or flushed. Alcohol is basically toxic to our body. Dairy is known to have hormones in it that impact our skin. As women we have enough hormones, we don't need more.
- Here's what I do.
- I am not a doctor. I am not a scientist. I don't have all the answers. This is what has helped me and works for me. Give it a try you might find something that helps you!
Dating 101/ Dating Advice
Ughhhhh dating is hard ya'll... and I swear it takes years to master. I don't have all the answers, AT ALL! BUT I have learned quite a bit through experiences of my own/ through watching/helping friends! Us gals gave to stick together. There are so many things that have helped me; books, quotes, friends, etc. Here are some of them!!
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:
DATING 101 👀🙈 COMMENT your best dating advice below! (Cue the awkwardness) 🙅♀️JK no weirdness here, just real talk. We’ve all been there; we do ALL the wrong things and MESS it up, we look like an idiot, we turn into a stage 5 clinger, or maybe you have no idea what you’re doing wrong. It’s time for some tips I’ve learned along the way as a single 20 something!
1️⃣ KEEP YOUR INDEPENDENCE, it’s SEXY! Just because you meet someone doesn’t mean you need to be attached at the hip. Think about it, remember the last time you wanted to hang with someone you liked and they were busy, we both know it made you want them even more. It’s science. We want what we can’t have. And no I didn't say fake it, or play games, but just be real and keep your life going.
2️⃣ DON’T STOP DOING YOU. The girls/ boys trip you had planned, keep it on the calendar. The yoga class, or gym grind you do every Tuesday, don’t change that. Bible study on Wednesdays? Count me in the rest of the year. Your partner should add to your life, not be your life.
3️⃣ STOP OBSESSING! Okay seriously you’re getting creepy. 🤓 Don’t check his/her insta 5x a day. Or watch their story 30 seconds after it’s posted. This person is not God, they are not perfect, or someone to be placed on a pedestal, so stop acting like you have nothing better to do then be a stage 5 clinger. Know your worth friends!
4️⃣ IF HE/SHE WANTS TO TALK, YOU’LL KNOW. Seriously y’all, this one is easy. Don’t double and triple text them & make excuses as to why you should message them again. Trust me they saw your message. They are either too busy at the moment, or just not feeling it. Be calm, play it cool. I’m all about someone making the first move; but don’t make the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd haha! Let them meet you half way.
4️⃣ ACCEPT, HE/SHE ISN’T FEELING IT. Read the signs they are sending. Pick up on their body language and verbal communication. It’s okay for someone to just not like you. It doesn’t take away from your worth. It doesn’t mean you’re not amazing. Shoot, half the time their the one with the problem not you. Flush it and keep moving on.
5️⃣ LESS IS MORE. This relates to all aspects. Less physically, make them work for it/ earn it. Don’t give away the cards all at once. Less information, you are newly dating they don’t need/ want to know every detail about your entire life right away. Nor does this person yet deserve to know every intimate story of what makes you you. These things take time, and should. Less drama; y’all they have their own to worry about I highly doubt they want double the load; keep your family and friends for that nonsense.
BOOKS TO READ: Below I linked 2 amazing books, I highly recommend. They are linked so click them and check them out!
Happy National Prayer Day! Over on Instagram (@janellePaigeBrandom) I'm taking prayer requests. I love praying over y'all and being able to support everyone through the ups and downs of this crazy life. Below are songs I've written down over the last year that have really honestly helped me through some of the biggest life changes I've faced yet.
